This is a multi-disciplined position that demands somebody with a varied skillset and extensive experience in several core areas of business management, administration, and commerce. It is therefore essential that applicants meet the exact requirements as set out below and can demonstrate their ability to satisfy the mixed duties that this role encompasses.
This is an-onsite position working from the company’s modern offices in a popular part of Ghana’s capital city, Accra. To accommodate the company’s plans for growth, and to provide strategic support to the CEO and board of directors, it is a hybrid role that will evolve with you as you help to spearhead the strengthening and direction of the company. Part General Manager and part Operations Director, you will act as a deputy in the CEO’s absence and work alongside him to develop policies, company direction, performance efficiency and increased market penetration, with regular brainstorming to identify weaknesses and opportunities. To be considered for this exciting, pivotal role you MUST possess the following:
Essential:
- A traceable and successful background in the Retail industry including e-commerce functions within the HealthTech and/or MedTech sector. Although international experience in this regard is important, it is ESSENTIAL that you have excellent and specific knowledge of the retail sector in GHANA with a practical understanding of the rapidly expanding on-line services environment.
- A career record that has given you extensive exposure to the on-line FMCG and/or retail sector (in Ghana or West Africa particularly).
- A solid understanding of HR practices (specific to regulations and employment laws in Ghana).
- Expertise in financial management including, but not restricted to, budget creation and management, invoicing, forecasting and general reporting.
- Inventory control and management.
- Procurement, logistics and warehousing.
- Adept at monitoring and understanding market trends, competition analysis, responding to change and recommending effective market penetration strategy.
- Comprehensive IT skills.
- Excellent and fluent communications skills in English (spoken and written).
The following requirements are not essential, but will be considered beneficial to your application:
- Familiarity, knowledge or experience of the pharmaceutical sector.
- Substantial exposure to sales and business development techniques.
- Notable success in strategy implementation.
To be successful in this role, you will be a hands-on character who is both proactive and reactive in a business setting: You will be “the adult in the room” and use your intimate understanding of the business climate in Ghana to provide people management, leadership and mentoring to a workforce that you will help to build. You will be responsible for the general day-to-day smooth running of all aspects of business operations and be adaptable to a fast moving and changing on-line retail revolution.
You will be very much a team player but also an accomplished and self-disciplined manager capable of taking the initiative and carrying tasks through to completion without supervision. You encourage efficiency, inspiring those around you to work together toward a common goal, and nurturing mutual respect through the leadership style that you can bring to this important role.

This is a position open to citizens and residents of Ghana (including the wider diaspora), and to resident foreigners with at least several years physical on-site experience in Ghana. The employment package will include a salary that is reflective of the role and your level of experience, and a generous benefits package. Details will be discussed at the client interview stage. As an important position that carries a high degree of responsibility, it is a prerequisite that applicants possess the required skills and experience to be considered.
