UKGCC, in partnership with JLD & MB Legal Consultancy, organised the webinar to discuss key mandatory components of the Local Content Legislation and their implications for business. During the webinar, Lily Acquaye, Senior Partner at the Firm, remarked that the Petroleum Regulations seek to promote the maximisation of value-addition & job creation through the use of local expertise & their retention in the country. She stated that the groundbreaking law also seeks to create petroleum & related supportive industries that will sustain economic development. Zoe Phillips Takyi-Appiah, panelist & Senior Partner at the Firm added that failure to comply with Local Content Regulations incurs a range of penalties including administrative penalties.

Other panelists, Collins Anim-Sackey, Director of Policy, Planning & Minerals Titles at the Minerals Commission & Kwaku Boateng, Director of Local Content at the Petroleum Commission, discussed the impact of Galamsey (illegal mining) on local content & the role of the Petroleum Commission in local content legislation.
