During the webinar, Lily Acquaye, Senior Partner at the Firm, remarked that the Petroleum Regulations seek to promote the maximisation of value-addition & job creation through the use of local expertise & their retention in the country. She stated that the groundbreaking law also seeks to create petroleum & related supportive industries that will sustain economic development. Zoe Phillips Takyi-Appiah, panelist & Senior Partner at the Firm added that failure to comply with Local Content Regulations incurs a range of penalties including administrative penalties.

Other panelists, Collins Anim-Sackey, Director of Policy, Planning & Minerals Titles at the Minerals Commission & Kwaku Boateng, Director of Local Content at the Petroleum Commission, discussed the impact of Galamsey (illegal mining) on local content & the role of the Petroleum Commission in local content legislation.
